ARTISTS STATEMENT - GLASS SERIES

The brains limbic system is where emotional processing of autobiographical memories evolve. Annita represents sections using glass for its translucent, fluid and reflective qualities capturing the fleeting nature of emotional responses when memories are recalled. Manipulation of form, surface texture, symbolic colour and text suggests a feeling. Porcelain ‘memories’ are influenced by pebbles found whilst diving in Irish seas embracing the notion that a visit to the sea enhances mental well-being. Pure white porcelain combined with the delicate flow of glass gives viewers the opportunity to form their own emotional response. Annita’s series questions inner strength and resilience to past experiences showing a psychological progression.
